Rhea Perlman was born March 31, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York to Philip and Adele Perlman. Because her father was an actor and her sister was a writer, story editor, and producer, Perlman's career in acting was well paved. She attended Hunter College.
Perlman's career in acting began in 1972 when she played a role in Hot Dogs for Gauguin and continued to act in various appearances in TV and short films. In 1982, she was cast in Cheers which gained her an Emmy nomination every year but 1992 during her Cheers career.
Perlman is the author of the children's book series titled Otto Undercover which consists of six books.
In 1971, Perlman met actor Danny DeVito when she attending a play The Shrinking Bride which he was in. Two weeks after meeting, the two moved in together and eventually married in 1982. Together they have three children. They briefly separated from October 2012-March 2013 and currently reside in Beverly Hills, California.
