Mittens is a cat at the institution Ryan's mother resides in. When Ryan's mother returns to the institution, it is revealed that Catherine sees Mittens as a grouchy middle-aged woman in a cat suit much like how Ryan sees Wilfred. She is played by Rhea Perlman.
